Smooth red-wine that's mildly sweet but the overall sensation provided by this wine is quite dry, preferable for those who loves wines that are made this way.

VINEYARD & PROVENANCE •

Planted in 1980 close to the business on an east-west-facing hill. From old clonal selection on the hills in the area where the variety originated, it is grown in Guyot with a density of 4500 plants per hectare.

YIELD •

Less than 70 ql/ha, obtained through pruning and cutting of the end of the bunch after optimal skin coloration reached.

HARVEST •

Hand picked into trays at the end of September.

VINIFICATION •

Traditional with stripping/crushing of the grapes and maceration over 15 days with twice-daily racking. Fermentation was completed in a stainless steel tank after drawing off.

AGEING •

Decanted twice in close succession, then put into barriques (half new, half second passage) and left for 14 months, undergoing full malolactic fermentation.

TASTING NOTES •

Spicy bouquet with predominant notes of pepper and juniper; ripe red fruit and hints of vanilla can also be detected. In the mouth light roasted notes from the barrique endow the wine with greater complexities. Full bodied, rich but soft. Further ageing confers still more interesting hints and sensations.

It should be noted that this is a genuine field blend. It has a brilliant straw-yellow colour with golden highlights. Its aroma is intense, full, with enormous elegance and persistence, and with hints of honey and wild flowers. Its taste is dry, velvety, and very well-orchestrated, with an exceptional persistence due to its particularly full body.

It is paired with truffled first courses, with a great variety of fish dishes, especially oven-baked fish and fish in sauce, and it can easily be drunk with white meats. We have a particularly good memory of this wine with a pillow of fresh salmon stuffed with parmesan and artichoke. (Daniele Cernilli)

White Wine made from Trebbiano di Lugana Grapes

Ottella Lugana, made from Trebbiano di Lugana grapes (which is Turbiano more akin to Verdicchio), produced byt the Azienda Agricola Ottella estate winery, is stylistic and elegant with beautiful aromas and lush flavors with a thrilling mineral component creating depth and structure.

Ottella was founded in 1880 and the Montresor family has been grape growers for many generations at the Southern end of Lake Garda. They meticulously tend their vineyard and when given care, Trebbiano can flourish and produce expressive wines with aromatic bouquets and broad flavors that are warm and persistent.

In my honest opinion, as a guy who prefers red-wine instead, this white wine is one of the best I've ever tasted. It doesn't overwhelm with the usual bubbly aftertaste that I'm definitely not accustomed to. I would prefer a smooth, slightly sweeter wine that suits my liking. This is definitely one of the wines that I would personally recommend.

PRODUCTION AREA •

San Benedetto di Lugana, the grapes come from our own vineyards that are most suitable due to the high content of white clay. The harvest and selection of the grapes are done strictly by hand, in small 17 kg. cases. 17.

PLANTING LAYOUT AND YIELD •

Double bow Guyot, yield around 9,000 kg. of grapes per hectare, equivalent to 5,700 litres of wine or 63%.

HARVEST PERIOD •

Third decade of September.

FINING AND FERMENTATION •

Delicate, soft pressing of the whole bunch for most of the production, the rest with gentle destemming by oscillation. Thereafter, a strict protocol of vinification: racking for natural sedimentation, slow, temperature-controlled fermentation (14°/18°); fining for 5 months on fine lees.

COLOUR •

Light, glittering straw-yellow with green tinges

NOSE •

Exotic sweet, citrus notes appear, candied fruit with fine, elegant minerality.

PALATE •

Diffuse, expressive subtlety, the characteristically authoritative breadth on the palate emerges, warm and persistent.

FOOD PAIRING•

Enjoy this crisp, rich characterful wine with freshwater and marine fish-based dishes, soups, savoury first courses with pasta or rice, white meats with gravies.

The variation in height above sea level distinctively changes the taste of each and every wine found in the Nals Margried Winery's vineyard that covers 370 acres of land in Alto Adige, reaching from Nals to Margried. There are 14 different wine growing areas, each of their wines find its ideal climatic environment and optimal soil conditions. The punggl has its vineyards located approximately 25 metres above sea-level takes a longer time to ripen due to the inability to grasp as much sunlight as possible.

The vineyards of both the Sirmian followed by the Mantele is around 300 metres and 500 metres respectively, which allows them to obtain as much sunlight as possible for optimal ripening. This explains how the red wines are more rich and filled with fruity goodness.

VINEYARD•

Vines with a GDC double curtain and a Guyot training system, with spurred cordon pruning, on mixed soil in the area situated between the central plain and the low hills of the province of Reggio Emilia and the province of Modena.

VINIFICATION •

the grapes, harvested in September and October, are vinified in white. After alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature with selected yeasts, second fermentation takes place, using the Charmat method, for 4-5 days at a controlled temperature of 12-14°C.

DESCRIPTION •

white mousse; refined and persistent perlage; pale straw yellow colour; fresh and fruity aroma; sweet and pleasantly fruity flavour.

The inability to see without Contact Lenses or Spectacles has been a hindrance

Myopia or Nearsightedness is one of the worst problems in life that makes us too overly reliant on contact lenses and spectacles. The feeling of having to locate my spectacles each time I wake up is so annoying, especially when I can't even see well.

Moreover, every year, I would try to make up an excuse to my mother so that I could change to a new spectacles. It was because I always felt that it was either the spectacles that made me look bad or wearing spectacles does not suit me at all. It was after numerous pairs of spectacles that I finally found one that is suitable. The amount of money wasted over the years could have been well spent on a laser vision correction surgery. However, I was still too young to do it. The minimum recommended age is 18 years old and above. This is to ensure that your eye has fully developed and stabilized.

In addition to the need to change spectacles, I am self-conscious of my looks. This is why I started wearing contact lenses since I was only 12 years old. At that point of time, my mother actually discouraged me to do so especially when I was too young to spend that kind of money just so that I could look good. However, I still proceeded on to wear monthly contact lenses.

Sadly, my eyes became too sensitive due to prolonged wear of contact lenses. Contact lenses made my eyes were DRY and did not allow my eyes to breathe properly. I tried changing to the latest model of contact lenses and it did helped for awhile. However, I found out that my eye curvature was too flat for me to continue using monthly contact lenses and it caused dryness and irritation. I then proceeded on to use dailies, which was more costly.

It was at that point of time, I decided that I would save enough money to correct my vision. Based on calculations, It was more worthwhile to spend on the corrective surgery as It would only sum up to about 4 years of wearing contact lenses.

I went for my pre-evaluation check-up at @LasikParagon, Level 13. Initially, I was quite afraid that I would not be suitable for the procedure. However, It all turned out well.

The eye evaluation consists of many tests and I had my eyes thoroughly checked.

I went in to consult the doctor after all the tests were done. I was told that I was suitable and I was very excited!

My Personal Experience During & After The Procedure

When I went into the operating theatre, I was quite anxious and scared. However, it was not really that scary after all. All you need to do is to focus on a green light and the machine will do everything. It is a painless process as numbing eye drops were applied and all you have to do is to relax and calm yourself down during the procedure.

After the procedure, your eyes would be temporarily dry and sensitive to light.You can wear your sunglasses when you go out for the first few weeks as your eyes might be a little sensitive to the sun.

I was well-enough to go out the next day for an event

I was already out the next day for an event with my animation team. I experienced minimal discomfort as I consistently applied lubricating eye drops hourly as prescribed. It is of utmost importance that you adhere to the post-surgery medication instructions to ensure fast recovery.

As of now, It's my second week of recovery and I'm about 90% recovered. Sometimes it can be a little blurry during the first few weeks of recovery, It's normal as it takes about three months for your vision to stabilize.

Moreover, every individuals' eyes heal at a different rate, so don't expect both eyes to be perfect immediately. All you have to do is to be patient, and your eyes will gradually improve over the weeks.

I am able enjoy the fruits of the surgical procedure just within a few days of the surgical procedure and you can do so too. I am finally able to run without being afraid of having my spectacles slide off my face. I can also finally see the world so clearly now without the aid of any spectacles or contact lens. It is like you are reborn to this world and everything around you is so bright and vibrant.

Don't be afraid of the stigma that it is a scary procedure to do as it is not true at all. One thing I learn is that, it is better to try than not to at all. I'm loving my freedom of vision without glasses or contact lens.
